Professional Background
Devin Jones is an attorney with over 14 years of experience serving clients throughout Northeast Louisiana. He is the founder of Jones Criminal Defense, where he focuses on providing strategic, practical criminal defense representation during some of the most critical moments in his clients’ lives.
A former Assistant District Attorney for the Louisiana Fourth Judicial District, Devin served from 2011 to 2016 prosecuting criminal cases. During that time, he gained extensive courtroom experience and firsthand insight into how criminal cases are charged, negotiated, and taken to trial.
Trial Experience & Specialized Training
Devin has been involved in dozens of jury trials and criminal appeals and has received specialized trial training in domestic violence cases from the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He has also completed training in arson detection and investigation, allowing him to effectively analyze and challenge complex evidence when it arises in criminal cases.
How He Practices Today
Today, Devin applies his prosecutorial and defense experience to develop thoughtful, trial-ready strategies tailored to the specific facts and posture of each case. His approach is grounded in preparation, discretion, and a deep understanding of how prosecutors think and operate — both behind the scenes and in the courtroom.
Credentials & Public Service
In addition to his criminal defense practice, Devin serves as the City Attorney for Bastrop and Town Attorney for Sterlington. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and his Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law.
Committed to giving back, Devin volunteers with the Northeast Louisiana Bar Foundation, assisting with monthly free legal clinics across multiple parishes.
Beyond the Office
Outside the office, Devin is the father of three sons and three daughters with his wifeJennifer McCarty, a grant consultant and former Judicial Assistant. Their blended family life is filled with dance, horseback riding, baseball, and plenty of semi-organized chaos.
